Study Abroad with the Academy is your chance to take creativity global and gain perspective in the very places that shaped art, design, and culture. Through immersive experiences, you’ll expand your photography practice while engaging with new cultures, ideas, and ways of seeing. Open to all Academy majors and skill levels along with non-degree seeking students, no prerequisites required. Just bring your passport, your camera, and your passion for travel.

Study Abroad Italy

Steeped in visual history, Italy is where light, composition, and form have been studied and celebrated for centuries. Experience its rich art and culture while you learn and create a compelling portfolio of travel photographs. Based in Florence, this summer program takes you to Venice, Milan, and towns across Tuscany. Abroad, you’ll build your portfolio and have the opportunity to exhibit your completed work in Florence, Italy!

Student Program Fee: $4,500 plus tuition for 6 units

Class Dates: Virtual Pre-departure meeting June 15

Travel Dates: June 24th – July 25th (4 weeks abroad)

Classes: Must enroll in one 6-unit class

Photography – What’s Included

    • Welcome Gala in Florence, including an overview of the city and all health and safety information
    • On-location learning with ArtU Instructors on the SRISA campus and in various locations in and around Florence
    • 24-hour emergency assistance
    • On-campus WIFI
    • Access to on-campus facilities in Florence
    • Uffizi Card, which offers unlimited access to the Uffizi, Pitti Palace, Boboli Gardens, and Bardini Gardens
    • End of summer group show and reception
    • Four-day, three-night trip to Venice with public transportation and student accommodations in multi-person rooms (2-4 people)
    • San Gimignano day-trip via private bus
    • Siena day-trip via private bus
    • Cortona day-trip via private bus
    • Students must pay ArtU tuition for 6 units.
    • Students are responsible for roundtrip flights.
    • Student are responsible for housing. They can select SRISA housing, double occupancy at $1,350 for Photography or secure other housing on their own.
    • Students are responsible for meals.
    • Non-U.S. students are responsible for travel visa fees and processing.
    • U.S. students are responsible for ETIAS fees, if applicable.
    • Students are responsible for securing travel insurance.
