This is Study Abroad with the Academy, a chance to take your creativity global and unlock new perspectives in the places that shaped art, design, and culture as we know it.

All Academy majors and UpSkill students welcome. No prerequisites required; just bring your passport, sketchbook, camera, and passion.

Florence, Italy: Summer Sessions

Live and create in the birthplace of the Renaissance. The streets of Florence and exciting day-trip destinations will be your studio, your classroom, and your inspiration. Surrounded by centuries of artistic mastery, you’ll study under Academy instructors while walking the same paths as Michelangelo, Botticelli, and da Vinci. Choose from two immersive sessions—Fashion or Fine Art & Illustration—and earn credit while building a global portfolio that stands out.

Fashion – Italy 4-week Study Abroad, SU26

Student Program Fee: $5,200, plus tuition for 6-units

Class Dates: Virtual Pre-departure meeting June 15

Travel Dates: June 24th – July 25th (4 weeks abroad)

Classes: Must enroll in two classes for a total of 6 units

  • UG – FSH 493.01 Study Abroad AND FSH/LA 494.01 Fashion Culture & Industry
  • Grad – FSH 903.01 Study Abroad AND FSH/GLA 904.01 Fashion Culture & Industry

Fashion – What’s Included

    • Welcome Gala in Florence, including an overview of the city and all health and safety information
    • On-location learning with ArtU Instructors on the SRISA campus and in various locations in and around Florence
    • 24-hour emergency assistance
    • On-campus WiFi
    • Access to on-campus facilities in Florence
    • An Uffizi Card, which offers unlimited access to the Uffizi, Pitti Palace, Boboli Gardens, and Bardini Gardens
    • End of summer group show and reception
    • Five-day, four-night trip to Milan with public transportation and student accommodations in multi-person rooms (2-4 people)
    • Zerolab, FI – day-trip and workshop
    • Fondazione della Seta Lisio, Fl – guided tour
    • San Miniato – day-trip via private bus stopping at Consortium of Vegetable, Tanned Leather, Tannery Tour
    • Pitti Immagine Filati, Fl
    • The Cube Archive, AR – day-trip, workshop and boxed lunch
    • Prato + Pistoia – day-trip via private bus stopping at Manteco, Montemurlo Capri Shoe Factory, Chiesina Uzzanese
    • Tavarnuzze + Empoli – day-trip via private bus stopping at Ferruzzi Accessories Handbag Factory, Tavarnuzze Fl, Piegavelox, Empoli, Fl
    • Ferragamo Museum, Fl – guided tour
    • Mantero Seta S.p.A., Como – day-trip via train
    • Students must pay ArtU tuition for 6 units.
    • Students are responsible for roundtrip flights.
    • Students are responsible for housing. They can select SRISA housing, double occupancy at $1,350 for Fashion or secure other housing on their own.
    • Students are responsible for meals.
    • Non-U.S. students are responsible for travel visa fees and processing.
    • U.S. students are responsible for ETIAS fees, if applicable.
    • Students are responsible for securing travel insurance.

Photography – Italy 4-Week Study Abroad, SU26

Student Program Fee: $4,500 plus tuition for 6 units

Class Dates: Virtual Pre-departure meeting June 15

Travel Dates: June 24th – July 25th (4 weeks abroad)

Classes: Must enroll in one 6-unit class

UK: Summer Session

Two countries. One unforgettable journey. From the fast-paced rhythm of London to the haunting beauty of the Scottish Highlands, this Study Abroad experience drops you into the heart of the U.K.’s rich cultural landscape. Explore castles, cathedrals, museums, street markets, design labs, historic ruins, and more. You’ll feel the pulse of the old world and come back with a new lens on your own work.

England & Scotland Study Abroad, SU26

Student Program Fee: $6,800, plus tuition for the 3-unit class

Virtual and Study Abroad Class: June 15 – August 5

Travel Dates: June 23 – July 9 (17 days abroad)

3-unit Class: UG – LA 276.01 Seminar in Great Britain OR Grad – GLA 903.01 Graduate Seminar in Europe

Registration Deadline: February 20; $200 non-refundable deposit due
